Breastfeeding protects against childhood obesity and diabetes

Louisiana has one of the highest rates of childhood obesity and diabetes in America, ranking within the top ten states in both categories. Serving as a protective factor against childhood obesity and diabetes, breastfeeding increases a baby's regulation of food intake and gut permeability.
